Aspire2Lead services include strategic plan and charter development (that complies with Ministry of Education guidelines), and school wide self-reviews that could be across a range of contexts e.g. curriculum, organisational structure, senior leadership team effectiveness, sports, Education Outside the Classroom. A significant influence to strategic planning derives from the work of Dr Leoni Degenhardt.  Degenhardt talks about the need for schools to change to reflect 21st century contexts, and has developed a 12 step recipe for reinventing schooling, which can provide the initial framework for strategic planning:

  •  start with purpose
  • identify and articulate the school's values
  • engage with the external context
  •  include everybody
  • dream of how it could be
  •  develop a shared paradigm
  •  lead appropriately
  •  manage change and micropolitics
  • provide professional development
  •  adapt structures and architecture
  •  evaluate constantly
  • develop a continually reinventing culture

Although the strategic planning process can be adapted to meet particular needs and contexts within schools, after considering aspects of Degenhardt's 12 step recipe, a 5 step approach can also be considered. Click here to access.
